The Greatest Discovery in the UniverseIn the spring or summer of my fourth year in college, I was walking down the streets of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and something stopped me in my tracks, even though I continued to walk. I discovered something much greater than the entire universe; this discovery was my human spirit. My wife (at the time my fiancée) was taking me to the local church meetings in Willoughby, Ohio, and in the meetings many of the believers would testify of their experience of finding and touching their human spirit, while others would encourage others to exercise their spirit (1 Thessalonians 5:23). I never knew I had such an organ (i.e., my human spirit), and never heard the function of our human spirit. I was really curious, interested, and intent on finding my spirit. My future mother-in-law would give me books written by Witness Lee and Watchman Nee that clearly revealed in the Scriptures that man had a human spirit. Witness Lee and Watchman Nee also unfolded through the Bible the function, the necessity, and the joy of the human spirit. I will be forever grateful to Witness Lee and Watchman Nee even though I never met them, because of the seeds of truth they planted in me, unlocking the verses showing me my human spirit, and giving me an opportunity to experience the greatest discovery of my life. To find and touch my spirit has enabled me to know how to contact God, receive God, and contain God. That day in Pittsburgh, the day I discovered I had a human spirit, has become the day I made the greatest discovery in the universe. M.C. | Back to List |
